SHE REPRESENTATIVE FUNCTIONS IN THE WORKPLACE

123 123 people viewed this event.

The role of health and safety representatives is central to the overall safety and well-being of any organisation. Without active and effective health and safety representatives, an organisation’s safety measures and overall culture will lack structure, support and buy-in. This is because the health and safety representatives are the essential link between management and employees in all matters relating to health and safety – without this link working effectively, no organisation will be capable of maintaining continuous improvement in health and safety.

Persons credited with this unit standard will be able to understand the objectives and statutory requirements pertaining to health and safety in the workplace. Learners will be able to explain the rights, powers, functions and duties of the workplace health and safety representative and how any errant health, safety and environmental issues may be handled. Learners will also be able to participate in the safety, health and environmental structures and measure these activities according to health, safety and environmental requirements.
